Records fell, spirits were broken, expectations exceeded, and fanaticism raised to a feverish pitch at the 36
Annual CARIFTA Games held in the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI).When all was said and done, Jamaica had ravaged the competition with a colossal 76 medal take with its
closest competitor, Trinidad & Tobago, securing 37. However, during the last day of competition, Jamaican athletes literally
ran neck and neck with the Bahamas to the frenzied delight of supporters as the Games climaxed into a memorable event
for TCI sports.
The host country was unsuccessful in securing any medals, however, but was cheered on by all present for the
athletes' determination to complete event at the new track and field facility on Providenciales.
The 37th CARIFTA event is expected to be held in St. Kitts in 2008.
