PROVIDENCIAELS—TURKS AND CAICOS—March 7, 2007—The Turks and Caicos Tourist Board is continuing its efforts to educate and foster tourism awareness among the youth of the Turks and Caicos.
On Tuesday, March 6 roughly 50 students in Providenciales had the opportunity to meet the top tourism officials including Hon. Wayne Garland, Executive Chairman of Tourism, Lindsey Musgrove, Director of Tourism, Ralph Higgs Deputy Director Tourism and their support staff who work tirelessly to promote the destination both locally and internationally.
“The Tourist Board is proud to be a part of Education Week and this open-house is just another indicator of the Board’s commitment to educating students about our world class destination,” said Ralph Higgs. “We hope this open-house provides students with a first hand look at the responsibility of the Tourist Board and the important role that everyone plays in developing a globally recognized destination which not only attracts tourists but encourages them to return year after year.”
The open house was held during National Education Week, observed March 5th -9th. The tour included a presentation from Quality Control Officer Lloyd Stubbs who spoke on the importance of tourism and role individuals play in promoting the destination. The students also watched Golfing the World and ESPN’s BXRL, two international programs recently filmed on location in the Turks and Caicos.
