HBO DEF POET, WILL "DA REAL ONE" TO PERFORM ON PROVIDENCIALES, TURKS & CAICOS AT 2005 CACTUS SLAM FESTIVAL FEBRUARY 11TH 2005

Illegal Poet, a spoken word artist, will take to the Williams Auditorium stage for the first time for the 2005 Cactus Slam Festival in Providenciales, Turks & Caicos on Friday February 11th 2005.

PROVIDENCIALES, TCI December 11 2004- Well-known for organizing classy and positive spoken word shows as well as leading in the area of local entertainment public relations and event promotions, Illegal Poet prepares for his debut at the 2005 Cactus Slam Festival on February 11th.

Artists scheduled to blaze the mic and set the stage with spoken word soul, dance and music presentations include artist from a diverse cultural background such as HBO Def Poet, Will “Da Real One”, Neo-soul duo Eclectic, Spoken Word Artists: Rachel Harvey, Asia, Ewonka, Source, Emonde, Prophet, Ari, Paparazzi, Raff Adams, Youngsta, Rachel Finley, Iya Roots, Darlene Carlixte, Sista Flame and a host of other talented up and coming artists. Illegal Poet, will host and deliver spoken word of his own as he performs the hit piece, "SantaAin’t Coming to the Ghetto," a true story about Christmas in the ghetto.

"What we do is organize an inspiring and positive show of varying talents under a theme, and weave a story that leaves the audience feeling refreshed and inspired," said Audley A. Astwood, who is coordinating and directing the Spoken Word presentation. "With a combination of theatrical directing, the audience enjoys a different form of music, dance and spoken word artistry all at the same time, and they are often overwhelmed when the last artist leaves the stage."

Since 1992, Astwood has cultivated a number of spoken word artists and performers who continue to perform under his direction, ever expanding his network of artists and industry contacts across the U.S., including HBO Def Poets, Bonnie Harvey and Tommy Bottoms, spoken word recording artists, Will Bell and Malik Salaam. Some of the artists he continues to work with, along with Bell and Salaam include Slam Poet Chunky, Asia, Phantom Knoet and Emonie Love.
